1. COMMITTEE: The Selection Committee will consist of nine (9) members; the Interstate All Star Committee Director/Chairman or his designee, and the eight (8) coaches from the four teams. The Director has the option of changing the composition of the selection committee at his discretion. 2. STANDARDS: The minimum standards for consideration on the Georgia All Star Bowling Team are as follows: Boys 15 & above = 200 average in current or past two seasons Boys 14 & below = 180 average in current or past two seasons Girls 15 & above = 170 average in current or past two seasons Girls 14 & below = 160 average in current or past two seasons Age is determined as of Aug 1 of the current season. 3. TEAM COMPOSITION: Teams will consist of nine (9) members and will be comprised of the top 6 USBC Youth averages in the state of Georgia in their age group. The remaining 3 positions will be determined by the selection committee based on current: Average, and Performances at the following: - Georgia Pepsi Tournament - Georgia State Youth Tournament - GYBT Tournaments - Youth Leaders Tournaments - Coaches assessment of athletes potential ability to perform at the All Star standard level with specific training/instruction. 4. TRYOUTS: If there are not 9 athletes exceeding the minimum standard established, the selection committee can elect to proceed with 8 bowlers. If there are not 8 athletes that exceed the minimum standard, the selection committee can elect to conduct a tryout to fill the remaining spots on the team. An invitation to tryout will be extended to bowlers within ten (10) pins of the minimum standard. All nine (9) members of the selection committee will vote on the selection of bowlers from the tryout. If tryouts do not produce enough athletes to compete at the All Star level, the selection committee can elect to utilize low score during tournaments for vacant positions. What it means to be a Georgia Allstar Bowler: Bowlers selected for the Georgia Allstar Team have the opportunity to compete against North Carolina and South Carolina bowlers in three scratch collegiate style tournaments. Each state will host one tournament in the bowling center of their choice within their state. Once selected for the team, Bowlers ARE required to commit to all three tournaments, plus 5 to 6 practice sessions. Practice location is announced during the tryout sessions. A "BOWLER OF THE YEAR" is awarded for each age group and will receive a scholarship. Scholarship Money: Scholarship money will be awarded to the top bowlers in each age division, boys and girls. To be eligible for scholarship monies, you have to compete in all three tournaments at NC, SC, and GA. The prizes will be based on total pin count for 18 games ( 6 Individual games, per each of the 3 tournaments). The award structure will be tiered based on the level of competition for the top bowlers in each age division, boys and girls. For example, the older boys division will be the most competitive and we plan to award scholarships to the top 5 bowlers. The older girls will receive scholarship for the top 5 bowlers. The younger boys and girls will receive scholarship for the top 5 bowlers. |
